While this app is running in the foreground, the display can be off, and the phone will still receive and speak text messages. Quick and easy to configure the app to announce sender, message, or both.

On newer Android devices, this app uses the internal text-to-speech library.

On older Android devices, this app uses the text-to-speech (TTS) technology implemented by the free TTS Extended Service app. The Text Message Announcer app will check for the existence of the TTS Extended Service app on your phone. If it is missing, it will help you install it from the Android Market.
